How to find us

We are based in the Clinical Sciences Building at Hope Hospital, shown in yellow on the hospital site map below. Enter the building by entrance 7 (marked on the map) and turn left. Take the stairs or lift to the first floor, turn right and go through the double doors. The Human Pain Research Group is based in this corridor. The secretary's office is the second door on your right.

By train: The nearest train station is Eccles, which can be reached from Manchester by catching a train at Manchester Victoria station.

By metro: The nearest Metro stop is Ladywell, on the line to Eccles. Ladywell is the last stop before Eccles. From the metro stop, cross the road and walk back on yourself to the traffic lights. At the traffic lights, turn left onto Stott Lane. Walk up Stott Lane almost to the end, and enter the hospital site by the last entrance on your left. Walk past Stotts Bistro on your right and the next entrance on your right is entrance 7 to the Clinical Sciences Building.

By bus: The 67, 68, and 100 busses from Manchester city centre all go to Hope Hospital. Catch the bus from one of the following stops: Shudehill Interchange (stand F), Corporation St (Stop NP), Victoria Station (NY), Victoria St (NT), Deansgate (ND) Blackfriars St (NC), or Chapel St (WR & WS). Get off the bus at the stop across the road from The Hope pub and turn left at the traffic lights onto Stott Lane. Enter the hospital site by the first entrance on your right. Walk past Stotts Bistro on your right and the next entrance on your right is entrance 7 to the Clinical Sciences Building.

Alternatively, download the GMPTE leaflet (pdf 238kB), which contains information on public transport to Hope Hospital.

By car: From Manchester, take the M602. Come off at the Eccles junction and follow signs to the hospital.

From the south: From the M6, take junction 21A (junction 10 of the M62). Take the M62/M602 to Salford, come off at junction 2 Eccles and follow signs for the hospital. As you come off the motorway, stay in the middle lane on the slip road (signposted Pendleton). This will bring you past the White Horse pub through a set of traffic lights. There should be a row of shops on the right. Go through 2 more sets of traffic lights (pedestrian crossings), then at the next set turn right on to Stott Lane and follow directions for the car park. From the car park, enter the hospital and make your way to entrance 3. Leave the hospital by this entrance and turn right. Keep walking until you reach entrance 7 to the Clinical Sciences building on your left, which is just before Stotts Bistro.

From the north: Take the M62/M60/M602 to Salford, come off at junction 2 Eccles and follow signs for the hospital.
